Khmer Model United Nations
I have participated in the Model United Nations Conference or MUN for more than three years; however, those conferences were in English. In 2018, my Khmer Professor initiated the idea of hosting the MUN Conference at our school campus (Liger students only) in Khmer Language. Honorably, I was designated as the "chairman" of an assigned committee.
At that time--is still true today--running the conference in our mother tongue is not easy as it sounds. It requires a lot of time and effort to simulate an acceptable conference. Specifically, there is a plethora of highly technical, English terms, which are needed to be translated into Khmer. Overall, my experience of chairing the conference was remarkable. I learned how to speak Khmer in the conference with proper manner, assists other participants who joined the event for the first time, engaging the conversation, and uplifted the spirit of the MUN Conference. |
Second Khmer MUN!
Because of the first Khmer MUN in 2018 was extremely successful, Sopheak Thy, also a student of Liger Leadership Academy, initiatively hosted another conference. This time Liger students were not only invited, other students from other schools were also invited. Again, for the second time, I was designated as the "chairman!"
